This is where we live - right on Annie Lake - about half way along. This image is a great way to imagine the great views we have. Posted by Picasa

Watson. Brother of Annie and Walter. We had a scare with Watson last winter when he chased after a Quest team training near our house. He ended up lost and halfway to Alligator Lake. Our neighbour Didier saw him the next day, picked him up on his snow machine and brought him home to us. We were so relieved and he was happy to be home too. Posted by Picasa

This is Sophie resting in the sun in Dyea. She's an instant hit with the tourists with her one blue eye and one brown eye. She literally knocked me over on the weekend. We took a few dogs out to run loose on the tidal flats and her idea of a laugh I guess was to run up behind me at full speed and to try to run through me, resulting in me ending up on my ass. Quite a shock to be sure! Of course she was long gone by the time I realized what had happened so I couldn't even scold her. Posted by Picasa

This one is for our friends Trudy and Mike Hendricks. Here's Uncus hiding in the shade. One of Hugh's original dogs - he's run a lot of Quests and Iditarods mostly in wheel. He has a great spirit. Posted by Picasa

Gotta get some girls in here. This is Nova. We got her from Lance last fall. Amazing leader! She ran the Quest this year and was in lead lots with her boyfriend Sampson. We'd like to breed her if she'd ever come into heat.  Posted by Picasa

Here's Darkie. We just got him from Lester Erhart this spring. He's part wolf. He's a great leader - been a main part of Lester's great sprint teams for awhile now. We're hoping to see him progress into a distance dog this winter. Posted by Picasa

This is Titan and me (Tamra). Titan ran the whole Yukon Quest. He's a great dog. Great in lead or in the back with the other boys. He's only 3 and very promising. Posted by Picasa

Here's Brady - he did both the Quest and Iditarod this past year. He didn't end up finishing either - went to Dawson and White Mtn but all together ran over 1500 miles. Amazing considering we only had him for a few months before the start. I love his eyes and his personality.  Posted by Picasa

Another shot of our new canoe on Annie Lake with Tamra and Deyaah.  Posted by Picasa

This is from our first canoe trip around Annie Lake. It was at about 10 at night and the sun was just starting to set. Posted by Picasa

Doggie Heaven

Took awhile but we finally purchased a canoe to play on the lake with- it's a 20 year old aluminum "Smoker Craft". Took it out for a spin last night, saw a beaver swim past, within minutes leaving us with a typical splash of delight. Deyaah enjoyed the cruise as well though I'm sure she thought about tipping us over a time or two. There was an otter toying with us for ten minutes as well. As the fading sun's rays cascaded off the surrounding 5 thousand foot mountain peaks an eagle soared above coasting on the ever present winds. In the north the Great Almighty leaves us with little to imagine for each day presents a unique mosaic of beauty and wildlife to leave one in awe of all that we are so lucky to be a part of. That's not to say we're not having some major 'winter withdrawl' around here for nothing compares to standing on the back of the sled's runners with 16 crazed beasts leading you off into the unknown wilds. Just this last weekend we placed our kennel's name once again on the starting roster for the International 1,000 mile Yukon Quest race. We're hoping to do the Iditarod as well but are unsure if we will be able to afford to compete in both events. Presently we are in negotiations to purchase the property we've been renting this past year. If all goes will we will be living here, in our own personal 'doggie heaven' for many moons to come. I only pray that the wiser, more adventurous souls out there will accept our invitation to come on up for a visit some day soon. You can only imagine the wonders awaiting your eyes.... Enjoy the View, HHN
